Kim is a project manager who joined Gym Antrim in December last year, starting out in the small group training programme.
The Challenge
Before joining, Kim wasn’t sure what to expect from the gym environment.
Like many people, taking that first step felt daunting — especially not knowing how tough it would be or whether she’d be able to keep up.
Her first session was, in her own words, a humbling and eye-opening experience.
Why They Nearly Didn't Start
After that first session, Kim wasn’t even sure she’d make it up the stairs at the end — never mind come back again.
That’s a feeling a lot of people can relate to when starting something new and challenging.
The Turning Point
But she did come back — and that’s where everything changed.
With support from the coaches and a structured approach to training, Kim began to build confidence in herself and her ability.
She started small, lifting lighter weights, but week by week, she progressed.
The Results
Over the past 8–9 months, Kim has:
Built real strength — progressing from light weights to lifting heavier with confidence
Learned proper technique through coaching and guidance
Stayed consistent with her training
Gained confidence in and out of the gym
Found a supportive environment where she feels comfortable asking for help
Here’s what Kim had to say:
“I’ve just really enjoyed learning how to push myself… I’m getting stronger as time goes on and seeing real results.”
What This Means for You
If you’re nervous about starting or worried you won’t be fit enough — Kim’s story is proof that everyone starts somewhere.
You don’t need to be strong to begin. You just need the right support, coaching, and environment to grow.
