Emma is a member at Gym Antrim who joined in August last year, wanting to make a positive change for herself — and to set a good example for her young son.
The Challenge
Before working with us, Emma knew she needed to make a change.
She wanted to be more active, feel better in herself, and make sure she could stay fit and healthy for years to come — not just for her, but for her family too.
But like many people, she wasn’t convinced she’d enjoy it… or even stick at it.
Why She Nearly Didn't Start
Emma was sceptical from the beginning.
Even when her husband encouraged her to try it, her initial reaction was: “I won’t… I just won’t.”
The idea of stepping into a gym and starting something new felt tough and intimidating.
The Turning Point
Everything changed when Emma gave it a go.
Her first small group session was challenging — but it quickly became one of the best decisions she’s made.
She found a supportive community, built friendships, and trained alongside like-minded people all working towards similar goals.
With encouragement from both the coaches and the group, she stayed consistent and started to see real progress.
The Results
Since joining, Emma has achieved:
Nearly 2 stone weight loss since January
Improved confidence and self-esteem
Better fit in her clothes
Increased strength — lifting heavier than when she started
A supportive network of friends and community
Here’s what she had to say:
“It was tough at the start, but it’s one of the best things I’ve done. I’ve lost nearly 2 stone, feel better in myself, more confident, and I’m so much stronger now.”
What This Means for You
If you’ve been telling yourself you won’t enjoy it, or that it’s not for you — Emma felt exactly the same.
But sometimes, taking that first step is all it takes to completely change how you feel, look, and live.
